Finally back on the Croix after 3 weeks. Seems that a $6 gasket takes a long time to order and install. Note to self; do it yourself next time. I tried 3 ways with jig and hook, long lining deep divers, 3 way with #5’s, lindy rigs with worms, even jigged off a couple points. Total for the evening, St. Croix variety pack and a few firsts for me on the river. Crappie, couple of sunfish (I never caught a sunfish on the river before) small cat, and good old sheephead. The action wasn’t fast and furious, but what a great night to be out. Anyone having any luck finding eyes?? I fished from the Kinni south, had such a good time, I’ll be back out tonight.

You might want to try raps at the YMCA camp (about a mile south of the Hudson bridge on the WI side) in 21-25 feet of water. I picked up 2 eyes and 2 saugers last night in a little over an hour. Although I haven’t caught a sunfish yet, I saw three of them caught by a boat using leeches fishing for eyes. Must be a good year for them?

Man Ritt! If I couldn’t take my boat our for three weeks, I think I would have to rent one and us the oars….they still come with oars, don’t they?
