I was just wondering where might be a good spot to launch around Prescott or Hastings. Free Is always good for me! Thanks!

St. Croix Bluffs Regional Park is a Washington County Park located close to Hastings along St. Croix Trail S. Launch hours are 6AM until 11PM. Costs $5 per day or $25 for a yearly pass. If you get a yearly pass, it’ll give you access to the rest of the Washington, Anoka, and Carver County Parks, too. Very good deal! The launch is 3 wide with plenty of dock space in the protected bay. If your trailer is a little long, it could scrape on the left side (looking down and towards the water) with the low water levels now. My Shorelander (for my 18ft Lund) scrapes on the left side, so I try to avoid it. Here’s a link to the park’s website: http://www.co.washington.mn.us/info_for_residents/parks_division/parks_and_trails/st_croix_bluffs_regional_park/
July 10, 2007 at 10:42 am #588539Great timing – – I was there yesterday, my old sticker finally expired and had to re-up for another year. This time of year, the break-over to deep water can be a little brutal for tandem trailers with a low front crossmember. I crowd in as close as I can get to the west dock when backing in. The angle doesn’t seem to be quite as bad as the rest of the launch area. Otherwise, Hudson’s city park has a pretty respectable launch, but the parking is at a premium and it also is a fee area. . jerr
July 10, 2007 at 5:12 pm #588685Keep in mind the Bluffs launch will fill up early on weekends. There is a free public launch in hastings just up river of the hwy 61 bridge. There is also a pay lot in Prescott just down river of the bridge to crossover into wisconny for 10 bucks. Just depends where you want to fish and how far you want to drive.

July 10, 2007 at 6:16 pm #588722Last Sunday was the first time I ever launched out of the Bluffs on a weekend morning (6:30 AM). We were the 12th boat out. When we came back in at 10:45 AM, there were 15 or so trailer spaces left…
July 10, 2007 at 6:17 pm #588724I’ve heard some Ok reports on the smallie fishing where the Croix and Miss. Meet. Anyone want to confirm that for me. thanks

Thanks for posting the fee on that one. I was wondering what it was. I may use it because I want to start fishing pool 3 and it’ll save some time getting there from the Bluffs and going through the no wake zone.

July 11, 2007 at 2:44 pm #589078I haven’t used it, but drive by it a lot. From what I’ve heard/saw its a decent concrete ramp, but parking is limited.

Wow FWA, that is suprising that there were that many spots open in the morning when you came in. Must of have been the hot weather and storms coming. Or people thinking the fishing has slowed there.
