Will be hitting the Croix a few times in the days coming up… anyone been having luck pulling rigs with leeches? or crawlers? Have blades been necessary?

I plan on trying BBs and/or lindy and roach rigs. just want to know if I should grab any blades or not.

I don’t know about the fishing, But nothing has gone right for me the last 2 weeks. First, the truck engine is toast! Then the boat motor is leaking oil…..Not that that matters as I don’t have a truck to pull it with anyways!

Hope you find something that’s working on the St. Croix!

I was out Monday and was pulling rigs with crawlers through some breaklines. I caught a bunch of 14 3/4″ eyes, some smallies and one 16″ eye for eating, all caught in 18-23 fow. I tried pulling spinners with crawlers for a while around some rocks, but nothing produced.

I’ve been way too busy with work to get out this week, so I let my neighbor borrow my gps chip for his outing with his son yesterday. After checkin a few spots, it was obvious that the fish still seem to be on the chew Spinners and crawlers pulled around 1.5 mph were the ticket. Fish were relating to breaks in 18-21 ft of water, close to deep water.

Don’t forget about pulling lead with cranks. I ventured up the croix on sunday for a little while, until the cruisers came out and was having success in 20ish feet of water pulling #5’s on lead.

Crawlers still working this week for me when minnows did not. Trust your electronics to find fish. Depth seems to change daily.
