Great day on the Croix

Made it out from 2:00-5:00 on saturday afternoon in an attempt to find some new spots that are holding fish. It seems that this is the time of year that my go to spots seem to go cold, so I went on a mission to find some spots that can hold good numbers of fish throughout the dog days of summer. The first spot I marked, I fell in love with. So did the walleyes Fish were stacked in a 200 yd strech in 13-17 ft of water, right off a large break into the main lake. In the course of 3 hours we caught over 20 eyes pulling spinners and crawlers, bringing home a half dozen for the fry pan that ranged from 16-19″. What was great was that this area was getting pounded by big boat traffic, and the fish did not seem to care.

So all in all, another great day on the croix, and a new spot learned. Probably won’t hold fish there all summer, but for that day, it was too good to resist, and hunt for other spots

Must have been one of those you should have been here yesterday days, I was out from 6 until noon, and absolutely spanked the eyes. I was pulling lead and #5 rad raps in natural colors in 17 to 22 fow and stopped counting how many were boated. I kept 2 for lunch 16″ but could have done alot of damage yet knew better. The action really slowed when the big cruisers decided it was their time to do their thing, but it was fun to be a part of, its nice to have a place 5 mins from home that continues to impress.

After we got a short pounding from the storm, I got a call from a good friend who I sent over to the same area that produced for me on Sat. Same results, lots of eyes in the 17-19″ range. Can’t believe the bite has been as good as it’s been these past two years!!
