Heading out Saturday morning with the wife and just wondering where to start. We have fished both areas a couple of times this spring. We relocated from WA last year so the St. Croix is new to us. What is more productive this time of year? We like to troll bottombouncers with spinners and crankbaits. Til this day we’ve never caught a walleye with a spinner rig in MN (used to hammer them in WA). I have better luck with just a plain worm on the bottom bouncer on the St. Croix. How fast are you guys trolling? Maybe I have the speeds wrong. We fish out of a Hewescraft 200 SeaRunner so stop by and say Hi.

Hang in there! Spinners and minners or crawlers work well on the Croix for eyes/saugers!

Best time for me and eyes is spring followed by fall I usually have a slowdown in hot summer.

My favorite spinner setup is nickle to quarter sized Colorado blade, >4′ leader, 2-3oz. BB, 1.5-2.5MPH with a wimpy rod!

Try the WI sand shoreline in Hudson and the humps. In Prescott work the WI shoreline also.

In either spot look for all of the other fishing boats and fall in!

For weekend fishing get there at sunrise and get off around 10-11 am minimizing the cruiser wakes you have to put up with.

    Good Luck,

    Ferny.
