OK… for you guys that were giving me a hard time about setting up a romantic evening with the Queen…
I launched around 6:30 and made a few trolling passes right near the launch – caught something on every pass… first, a nice keeper walleye (measured out at 17″), then a good-sized sauger (measured out just a hair above 15″), then a white bass that was barely bigger than my lure, and then a big sheepie… about that time, the Queen made it down to the docks so off we went.
We started doing a bit of trolling in the channel, making our way to my favorite little spot south of the bridge. Along the way, I caught another nice sauger and the Queen hooked into a whitie.
We got our quiet secluded spot, dropped anchor and enjoyed some nice wine, some excellent cheeses, and some olive salad for starters. Finished that off with an excellent sandwich (yes, Subway… ) and another glass (or two) of wine. It was absolutely beautiful out there tonight. Very little wind, very little boat traffic – just the Queen and I out enjoying the weather, some good food, and each other’s company.
I threw a slip-bobber rig out and had something take the bobber down… missed it though .
After we were done dining and enjoying the sights and weather, we motored back to the channel and we made one more pass through. We hooked into a few more fish and made our way to the launch. All in all, an excellent night to be on the water!
Sure beats the heck out of golf!!!
