Just wondering if anyone has tried for flats yet on the Croix? Thinking about going in about a week and a half but may not if there has been little action

    Hey Tom –
With all the good flathead action on the Minnesota River and the local Mississippi pools going strong the St Croix bite should be taking off any time now. I’ve picked up a few nice channels on cut sucker. I have yet to pick up a flathead but the walleye guys have been catching them so they are there. I wouldn’t let the lack of flathead reports keep you home. You can’t catch fish if your hooks aren’t in the water.

Hey Tom – They are biting. I picked up this 18 lb flathead last night at 11:00pm on a bullhead. This was the only run I had all night.

2 weekends ago I couldn’t catch a cat to save my life on the Croix. Last weekend on the Miss above 169 a buddy and I caught about 20 channels. Smallest around 3 biggest only 8, but one of my better days on the water. If you aren’t out there on the water, you won’t know for yourself if they’re biting or not. So get out and give us your own report. It may be your turn to have your best day out.
