Anyone been out fishing around Osceola this year. Got out for a few hours tonight. Did a little trolling and didnt find any eyes or saugers. White bas and smallies where going. They where surface feeding. Casting shortened ringworms and floating raps worked for me. Those whities hit em like a freight train. Ill try to post some pictures in the morning.

Fished again this morning out of Osceola. Fishing was pretty good. PDW and I must of caught a mixed bag of close to 70 fish this morning. The bite started off right away with a least 30 good sized white bass. Floating raps, twister tails and spinner baits took most of these. All you had to do was cast to where they where surface fishing.
After this we went looking for a few walleyes. The trolling bite never did get going for us. Anchoring up and fishing live bait on bottom did get us what we where looking for. Minnows and crawlers both took eyes. We mostly fished spots with current and wood for the fish to hid behind.
There where also plenty of other species biting today. Carp, suckers, gar, small mouth, and rock bass. The osceola portion of the the croix is a great place to fish for a mixed bag of fish. I often look forward to the days where we catch maybe a dozen different species of fish or more.

Water levels are low for this time of year but getting around is still pretty easy. Hope we get more rain.

Got out for a few hours again tonight. Fishing was a little slower than last weekend. Managed to jig up 1 pike in a deeper hole. Picked up 1 walleye fishing current and wood. The night ended with the a good white bass bite. Caught around 20 right before dark throwing surface lures. Lots of nice 15″ to 16″ bass where going. Jig and BfishN ring worms worked pretty good. Chartreuse ringies where real hot. The whites tonight didnt seem to be chasing minnows light last weekend. They seemed to be chasing water bugs on the surface. It was a challange to find something in my box that would mimic this. I think maybe a small popper or some sort of fly would of really cleaned up on these fish tonight. I still caught a lot of them but my key was to just hold tight until they started busting the surface and then throw a lure into the center of them.

Any one else been fishing up this way?

Just a note on the Osceola landing. It is shallow. HTe cement ramps are out of the water all ready. When I pulled in tonight there was a tow truck pulling a 4WD truck and small boat up the ramp. That sand there will suck you down in a hurry. I would suggest small boats or roller trailers for this ramp. Franconia’s gravel landing may be a better option.
