It’s nice to see the channel cats are active I’ve been running into small ones this week, and haven’t specifically targeted them, however that being said, when the cats are hitting walleye rigs (and haven’t previously), you know its time to fish for them!

Larger walleyes are also making things interesting out there on the Croix…

Are any of you guys going to the BB/BS event down in Everts? coming up August 8th and 9th? I’m looking forward to it and they may need more? I remember thinking I was a fisherman after just one fish years ago, and one big fish seals the deal!!!

    Keep catchin’

    Hey Turk,

Bigger eyes eh? Are you seeing them on the shoreline trolling pass or picking them up out on the structure?

I’LL be at the event, you bet! looking forward to helping out.

I just got back (literally!) from the tackle show in vegas on the red eye this morning and plan on getting a new products report together, as soon as I get me a little shut eye.

See you folks out there this weekend!

    Hey Turk & Mike,

I went out about 8 this morning and came in at 1:30, just when the wind picked up. I had a couple of calls I had to make, so I wasn’t really concentrating on fishing, but ended up with 3 just over 15. I picked them up on a spinner with a minnow just south of Afton on the WI side.

I think it’s been about 3 weeks since I’ve seen a 23 incher. Where you hiding them Turk?

I plan on attending the BB/BS event.

I haven’t found any channels lately, but then it’s my wife that normally hooks into them.

Almost forgot! Here’s a picture that Marc Stevens sent me. It was caught by his friend in Canada. I’m going to try and post this down below…if I can.
I’m surprised that they survived to be this large?!

Rivereyes, does this happen alot? (now that sounds like a dumb question!)

I think we had a discussion about this same pic last year… and I THINK we came to the conclusion that its doctored…. it appears to be impossible… the heads are together… that I suppose IS possible… but the body on the one pike is inverted… and somehow I dont think THAT IS possible…… and actually I would be willing to bet that a pair of siamese pike like that never would live long enough to approach anything like that size….. they look seperate enough that they would both have to feed independantly… I just cant see that happening… the fish laying on its side with the inverted body… well… survival would NOT be an option I dont think…..

    Thanks!

You’re very right and I didn’t notice that (inverted body). Although nature always amazes me, this would be tough for even mother N.

It shows one other thing, everything is covered on this board at sometime or other. If you search first!
