Nobody is safe around here. We call them as we see them. And roast them.

Spend 300 + days a year on the water for the last 30 years. Gotta give the guy a little credit!

I bump into him at the ramps a couple of times a year. He’s always been friendly to me and has shared some information about what he’s been fishing and how he’s been doing. Last summer at Prescott I was taking my 4 year old out and he made some small talk to him.

I don’t know of a more well know fishing personality in the metro area. I’ve seen him on Ron Schara’s “Minnesota Bound”, on the Kent Hebrek’s show, in the Pioneer Press, etc. I don’t know if he still is, but he use to be featured in a display about the Mississippi river at the Science Museum.

Oh, and when I see him on the water, I take note of what he’s doing.

I ran into the Griz on monday at Blue Ribbon in Oakdale. Off the water he seems like a much nicer guy, although when I asked him about how pool 4 treated him last weekend, he went on a fit about the crowds of people in his spots…I guess the guy has a little bit on an ego, but in a way, he has earned the right to have one.

Just for the record I have no doubt he should be in the HOF. Probably even before this year.

Congrats to the Griz, the one, the only. I lot of fishing knowledge in that noggin. I’ve never fished with him, but I bet a guy could learn a lot about pool 2 and the croix. Maybe even some beard growing tips.

The Griz is a legendary angler, I’m glad he got his due respect in the Hall of Fame.
