Croix Crappie Report

  • #1228026

Hit the Croix for a few hours after work today for a little crappie action. Fishing was fair, boating about a dozen fish in the course of an hour and a half with the biggest being 11″. From what I heard from other fisherman, the bite seems to be pretty good right now, and the mid day bite has been the best. All in all, it was great to get back out on the Croix. Only two more weeks before the real fun begins!

I had a chance to work at the bait shop this weekend and got some great crappie reports. The two biggest reports were 14″ and 15″ with a variety pack mixed in. It appears they starting biting mid week, in and outside of the marina’s and on the shorlines of the state parks. Crappie minnows and fatheads tipped on a jig seem to work the best. Flu Flu’s and mini-mites are always a good bet. Some good white bass reports mixed in this weekend to

I went out this weekend and hit the white bass they weren’t bitten too good, but i caught enought to stay in the same spot for a couple of hours. I was casting for them and caught a walleye that was a nice surprise. My cousin was fishing with me and he caught a nice eye at about 18 1/2.

The thing that gets me is we were fishin and i tell him what to use he out fishes me. and with the use of my landing net, because his is like just big enough for a perch. He brought in probably the biggest fish of his life, about 33 or so inch pike. It had to have been 10 lbs. We never would have landed it, if it wasn’t for fireline. that was our highlight
