I am sure if you have kids or a wife you might have had the same problem. if your not catching fish there just not interested. well i have a little story. I fish with my gf and she if pretty good. I try try try try to be on the fish so we can catch, but that doesnt always happen. So one day when the fishin was slow i mean 2 fish all day. and i reeled them in. haha she wasn’t so happy. maybe bored or uninterested. she had lost the focus. well we had been out all day and an it was about 7pm and we decide its time to go and the she like i got a snag, i turned and i watched her pole she wasn’t snagged. she just had a hard time reeling up a 25″ waller.released so when we go out now i still try to be on the fish but she remembers that day and will sit in the boat just as long as it takes to catch another fish. i an’t always gonna be on the fish but i try sometimes it take a big fish to keep you coming back but for me it just plan fun big or small

    First, Welcome to IDA

It’s always great to bring a kid out on the water and see the expression on their face whether they are pulling in a 25″ eye, or just a tiny sunnie. My niece is almost four now, and looking forward to bring her out on the water.

Have fun and good luck on find those hotspots, this site is useful in learning new techniques and locating more of those monsters.

Welcome to the site. Sounds like you’ve got a keeper!

I take my kids fishing and if I’m not on them, I always bring their dolls (yes I have two girls) or their ipods or gameboys. They can play for hours in the boat until I find something or give up!

Yeah, my fiancé liked to fish until I took her to Canada last year and we caught fish non-stop for a week. Now fishing around here she expects it to be the same. When we are not on the fish she usually takes a nap in the bottom of the boat. Then she broke the news to me that she doesn’t like fishing. She likes catching. I tried to point out that I need time on the water to find the spots to do the catching. Apparently the fish should know we are there and jump in the boat!

thats funny, yeah i think i will wait on a canada trip. thanks for the advice. she like to fish or maybe just be out in the boat. when ther not bittin she sometimes gives up to just relax. which is fine with me. The longer i get the more i know so it all works out.
