Just saw this advertised the other day. Looks like fun if we can get the 50 boats. Should be plenty of fish to be caught.

This should be a fun one The water is typically warm enough by that time to get a consistant bite…..lots of fish will be caught! Count me in
For anyone else interested, the Ham Room tourney(out of Hudson) is the following weekend also.April 4, 2007 at 2:19 pm #556800If weigh in is AT the Beach Bar at 2:30, won’t the mortality rate of those Walleyes be extremely high? I have fished Walleye tournaments on the Croix where weigh in is at a boat launch. There was always a few fish that died, but not many because they were realeased immediately after weigh in. Not ripping the tourney, I just don’t like the idea of hauling the fish inland for a weigh in.
April 4, 2007 at 2:26 pm #556803Bummer you have to kill big fish to enter them. DNR rules apply and the weight is offsite. They all die.
I’m sure the bar isnt in it just for the money……

Good point….I bet they would be open to suggestions since this is the first year, give em a call
Does the DNR rule say that the fish cant go back if weigh in is off site? If they instist on weighing at the bar they should reduce the # of fish…..10 is too many. 1/2 limit would be good, or even 5 like the Clydes tourament.April 4, 2007 at 3:46 pm #556847What exactly does “DNR rules apply” mean? Are there special tourney rules and the bar has a permit or does that mean regular DNR regulations where fish cannot be transported alive? I would like that clarified.
April 4, 2007 at 3:54 pm #556865It looks like a DNR permit is required for this tournament since there are more than 30 participants and the entry fee is greater than $25.00 I still don’t like the idea of a weigh in away from the river.
April 4, 2007 at 5:07 pm #556902Good Points!! I am in NO way affiliated with this Tourney, I just drove by and picked-up a flyer. I’m not sure if they have a permit or not, but if it’s legit, it would be fun.

Has, Im glad you posted the flyer! Could get more guys from IDA to enter that way . I checked on it and they DO have a permit….and the suggestion was kindly made to weigh at the ramp and lower the limit. Not sure if they will or not, but he was very nice about it and understood the concern. Either way-sounds like fun!April 4, 2007 at 6:41 pm #556961Nice of you to check that out and make the suggestion. Thanks Mark. Appreciated.
April 4, 2007 at 8:08 pm #557042No problem….he said they are giving away a ton of prizes too. Sounded like the payout and prizes would easily exceed 100% of the entry fees collected.
April 4, 2007 at 10:02 pm #557141Good to hear. I heard they all ready have 15-20 boats entered A few more changes and this could become a great event
Good luck to all
April 5, 2007 at 12:17 am #557197St. Mary’s beach won’t have anyone on it that time of year. Why don’t we pull our boats up onto the beach and weigh the fish there?
A simple clearance with the city and that could work easily.
Then award the money and have the event and bull session at the bar after the weigh in?
Ya those fish will die, and it’s a time of year big fish get caught.
My two cents…

That’s a great idea! Then everyone could leave from there also. That way, it’s a fair start. I know a couple guys heading down there tonight. I’ll have them raise that question.
April 5, 2007 at 5:48 pm #557535All,
I just got off the phone with Jon from the Beach Bar. If you have any questions give him a call. He is looking into getting acess to the beach idea (Thanks Turk). He was un-aware that fisherman could not transport live fish in their livewells to the bar. So he is working on that issue. He is also looking at changing the limit. I suggest if you have any questions, give him a call.
