I’m guessing she may go higher after last night.
See you on the high-water secret spot!
News reported 3.37 inches of rain in Afton last night. Can you say “debri” ?
Looking at the latest report it looks like water levels will rise around 8′ by monday. That is starting at last mondays level. Wish I lived a little closer to the river to see this.
The croix is a mess!
Was out last night and she’s come up at least 4′ in 36 hours and even a little in the few we were out. There’s TONS of big logs coming out of the kinni and off the shorelines, easy running for a while.
Could be good for the eyes, but it sure put the ski’s down!

I’m on the North Hill and from Sunday to Friday we have had 4.75″ in my rain gauge. What I’ve been noticing is if we get rain up North it takes about 3 days to get to the bridge. I guess it will come way up soon. The walkway in town is flooded again!
Check out this level and prediction link for Stillwater

I’ve noticed anywhere there is moving water that it’s very muddy and going up, up, up! Be careful nothing sneaks up on you guys while you’re out there!
I think the “no wake” rule goes into effect at 683.50 ft. Can anyone verify that?

I stopped down by the bridge at Taylors Falls and took a shot of the croix as she rolled down past the bridge.. I was standing on top 40′ above the water.. its hard to get the scale of this sight on a pic… the roar was so loud I could not hear my camera doing its focus or snapping the shots…
NO Wake is at 683! Posting should go to all the launches if it gets that high.
Tell me about it. I have to go diving for my dock. Its almost gone. Just like everyone else I like the high water but this is just a LITTLE to much. I’ll be at the Carpenter Tournament on Mille Lacs this weekend. But i’ll be back to hit the Croix on Monday, with the high water walleye report.
Good luck to all,

Nice picture. If you panned up a little you might of caught me in the photo. No fish where bitting tonight so we thought we would take a trip up to the cliffs. We almost got as far as the paddle boat doack on the upper strech of the river. That is just about where you photoed. It was interisting that there was so much turbulince in the river that my depth finder would not read up there. I was sure there was fish there anyways. What a cool river.
We caught no fish tonight but had a great time on the river. I am predicting saturday morning should produce a few fish and with no bad weather the bite should be back on next week.
Got to love that high water. Spent a little time crusing a few spot I have never been able to get to in the back tonight. Too cool
the level is at 680.78 and rising hourly. they ,the usgs, predict a level of 681.5 or so. This would be below the flood stage mark, meaning a no -wake rule would not be in effect. I’m thinking that if stays that high by the middle of next week that the dnr will enforce a no-wake rule just because of the high traffic associated with the 4th of july weekend. Look for this to happen if the water level approaches the 683 mark.
I haven’t been out on the river in a few weeks, due to a much-needed week-long trip to Birch lake up near Babbitt. I am wondering how much higher the water levels are now than they were toward the end of May. Anyone been out lately that could clue me in. Still trying to decide between Prescott and the St. Louis River for the excursion tomorrow….
Greg,
was out on tuesday, to my eye the river looked to be just about even with the spring flood stage. Prescott might be tough, the Miss is really moving and really dirty. The croix still looks good up river, ‘cept for all the flotsam floating down, be careful there. If you give the croix a shot, we had some success the other night pitching plastics and light jigs up to the steep shoreline, into the rocks and trees. Lots of bait up there and eyes. I think the same technique could be good on sand beach breaks, if you knew where to find them in the high water. All in all the fishing is still pretty decent.

I’ve been launching down @ the bluffs regional park all season. 20.00 gets you a season pass, there is no better deal on the river. Little more running if the hudson pool is your preference, but I’ve discovered lots of good fishing down there as a result. the pass is also good for Hennepin co parks as they have a reciprocity agreement.

The park you’re talking about is on the Minnesota side of the river, it has a little harbor and some marker bouys around the entrance?? How do you get to there by road(I live in So. St. Paul), and how do you go about getting the season pass? I normally launch in Hastings, but it is always so busy in the afternoon when I take the boat out. Major dingaling action….
Yessir, that’s the one….
It’s on 21 north of where 10 goes into prescott. So from SSp it’s 61 south to 10, east on 10 to 21, north on 21 about 3 miles. Passes are available at the office.

one thing to note about the launch @ the Co park. With the high water, the nasty rock pile @ the harbor entrance is covered right now and the guide bouys have shifted a little bit. leaving the protected harbor, it’s key to stay between the red and green bouys, when the water drops, you’ll see why. I’m real sure some lower units got racked there this weekend.
