We’re thrilled to announce the addition of Mike “Mike T” Thomas to our Field Staff ranks here on the websites. Mike T is a diehard St. Croix River angler that really has the muskie and pike bug! The best news about that is he’s willing to talk about it here with all of us!

    Some more about Mike…

It’s safe to say I’m about as “all ’rounder” as you get when it comes to my fishing experience/preference. I grew up in the st croix valley and have fished the river, either from shore or boat for the better part of the last 20 years. To pin me down as an angler is tough, I love to fish trout, steelhead, annual trips to MI for salmon, Muskies, walleyes, pike, crappies. Honestly, if it swims and it’s the hot bite, it’s generally what I’m after. I tend to break things down to the simplest level, what’s the prey and what’s the best tool for the job. It’s always been my goal to effectively fish, no matter where my travels might take me.

I’m lucky enough to have the opportunity to get to know the Croix and surrounding waters better than most, and I see the reward in my ability to share some of the things I’ve learned with others, be it a close buddy, a client or the on-line community.

So let’s hear a loud and friendly welcome to Mike!

Good to have you aboard Mike!

Welcome aboard Mike. Look forward to your reports and photos.

And to all of the other St. Croix river guys, I have really enjoyed reading this forum since the opener. I have not made it down there too much this year as I am concentrating on Pool 2 whenever I can make it out. Keep up the outstanding coverage.

    Thanks,
    Jon J.

    Howdy All!

Thanks for the intro James! Some of you folks already know me from the river & elsewhere, a big hello to those who don’t.

I’ll be working up a report today regarding the Croix events for the last week. I’ve only been after the eye’s a couple days with limited success, but the Muskie and Pike are still going strong. More to come later.

I’m on the river in a Alumacraft TP 175 with Yamaha’s hanging off the back and a black lab usually in the boat. If you see me out, stop on by and say hi!

Welcome aboard. I’m a new member on the message board and fished the Croix a bit. I’m looking forward to your reports. I believe I’ve noticed your fishing buddy (the black lab)out there before.

Welcome aboard Mike! I have a daughter living just outside of Stillwater. We’ll have to talk about chasing rockets sometime.

    Welcome aboard Mike,
I haven’t been on the Croix much this year yet but that may change soon. I have some strange illness that whenever I get the boat behind the truck I can’t go anywhere but Pool 4. I’m looking for a cure so I can get back to the Croix and Pool 3 but I’m not looking for that cure too hard.

Welcome Mike! I am looking forward to reading how things are doing up that away. Sounds like you been doing pretty good on those big toothy critters.
