Had a great time throwing plastics today. Fished from 7:30 ’til noon. 9 smallies 5 over 15″ and a nice chunky 17″ walleye. Ringworms were the choice with 4″ ISG tubes a close second. Don’t know what it is about that purple ringie with a white tail. They were slammin’ them. Best color today.

The ringies are working on the osceola part of the river. The numbers have been a little low but most of my legal eyes have come in on ring worms.
    Good luck fishing

I’ve been hearing a lot about the ringworms. What exactly are they, and how do you fish them? Any special size?

Thats a hot color also. I need to get more of those. Picked up some more nice eyes on plastics on saturday north of osceola. Pitching the wood. 3to 5′ of water.

Dont think I have tried that on yet. Havent been pitching them anough to find a color prefrence. Seems like they hit about what ever is thrown in front of them. I like to find a spot where the fish are hanging and pitch a few different baits. Dont want to keep passing the same thing in front of them.

are you using the “weedless” heads…. or nuckleball jigs rigged weedless to stay out of the lumber?

Dont have any weedless jigs. Just using the force. When you cast just close your eyes and feel the jig.
I have been using some jigs a buddy of mine made up. Long shank. Wide gap. The spots I fish I have become familiar with also. That helps.
Looks like I might be heading your way on wensday Rivereyes.
Had good luck there on saturday. There are some spots down river from the park I want to check out also. I was going to try some new waters but the peace and quiet over the keeps calling me back.

I should show you how to rig a ringworm and the nuckleball jig combo… they work pretty good in lumber…..

OK…. OK…. I have a picture of a nuckleball rigged up its on a zonar style jig… but it works the same on the regular heads… I use the zonar for deeper water jiggin and its great for the bottom jig of a dubuque rig… you will see the hook coming through the ringworm on this shot… but all you have to do is bury the hook in the worm and it slides right through weeds and wood kind of like a texas rigged worm… the hook on these nuckleball jigs is specially designed to work this way…… and the hook points up for great hook ups on strikes… it really works slick…. I dont use round head jigs at all anymore… just these and h20 precision jigs…. these jigs will also sit on the bottom and hold your worm or bait up in the fishes face… they are really a well designed rig… I went fishing with the designer Mike Huppert of Ellsworth Wi, and he gave me the low down on them.. very impressive…. plus we caught lots of fish on them… I love them for ring worms…. and bait….
