Just called the Baldwin DNR office to see if they’ve straightened out the opener dates for the Croix for us cheeseheads… the very nice lady read directly from the 07-08 regs and said “April 28th”!

So this year, us Cheeseheads can be out there and not have to worry about the CO’s slapping our wrists. OK… time to get serious – I have the Croix opener and the WI inland opener outting to plan!

April 28th is on my opener calendar. I’ll be putting together the 3rd annual Croix opener party a week or two prior. It will be on a week night. Once we hit April I will post information.

Why start now? Tradition dictates that you not be present.

Heck yea. Newbies are more than welcome. Last year we all threw in a few bucks for pull tabs and paid for nearly everything!! That was cool. So far in two years there has been “incidents” each time. Fun ones that stick to your memory. I’ll start putting this together in April buy my guess is Thur Apr 19 or 26. Excitement levels are higher close to opener and Thur night is just the right week night to gather and party.

All of this talk about opener is making me crazy, I drove over the 94 bridge today, the river was open from the train bridge down to the end of the narrows. The St. Croix opener has been a tradition for me for the last 4 years, last year was the best year I have had and I’m hoping for another good year this year. Last year crawlers were good right away on opener. I have to remember to bring my turkey call this year, nothing like catching walleyes with turkeys goobling in the woods above you.We caught alot of 12-14 inchers last year that should be good eaters in 2007.I usually put in at hastings head to Prescott and work my way up river. It will be here before you know it.

I just found this site, actually Wade sent it to me and another guy from Fishing MN, to get us into the opener. I’d love to make it out for this. I just got my first (and 3rd) boat last summer and am new to the river and fishing from a boat. Would love to spend time with ya fella’s and learn what I can.

Hey! If I’m allowed to come…newbies are very welcome!

    ..and welcome to IDA guys!

The snow has dampened my open water excitment a bit…but I was at Everts yesterday and that damn Mississippi River was whispering sweet nothings in my ear.

I’m looking forward to Suzuki’s 3rd Annual St Croix Valley Golfer Elimination Contest.
