Tue night I fished from Prescot north using a new bait. I started with ring worm then switched to something I just purchased “to try”. These were from Northland I think. Anyways they are a rubber minnow Body on a special jig head that is shaped like the minnow head. The tail has a knob at the end and it vibrates when pulled slowly. I was using the 1/8 oz size. The smallies smashed the heck out of it. Unreal action. I even picked up 4 short walleyes just casting to shore and bringing it back slow. Maybe it was just a fluke but these baits seem to be very trick and possibly one of the hot items for the year. Anyone else out there try these things? I got them at Gander.

I’ve seen them at the local Fleet Farm in town. I bought some 4″ shad swim baits made by Storm. They are similar to the Northland product.
About the smallies. They are crushing everything right now!
I went down to my favorite shore spot at 5:00AM this morning and simply had a great 1.5 hours of catching smallmouth bass. Leeches on slip bobbers and tubes. Just crushed everything I threw at them. They must be on the post spawn binge right now because they are REALLY active. I would say any rocks or timber will produce nice smallies. Can’t wait to chase them in the boat this weekend.

I’ve been pounding the heck out of the fish using Gitzit Paddle Fry. It too is a minnow shad that comes in a little kit at Wal-Mart. It’s a little steep, in my opinion, but the results have caused me to go pick up two more kits! Of all the shad style plastics I’ve tried, these have produced the best so far.

They look good. What size is most popular? What kind of hook do you use on them?

I use the 31/2 for walleye, bass&pike. The inch ones in blue&white for panfish&trout.Use them on jigs and as spinnerbait trailers. The best for me on eyes is the ghost or shad colors.Stuart
