It’s open as of this morning (5/28). Pier is in place and everything looks good.

I was dying to get on the river all weekend. Wouldn’t you know they opened it up right after the weekend.
Hit a couple of smaller lakes and got some nice LM Bass. Fun stuff. Actually fished from the wall in Lakefront Park and caught a little bit of everything including a 16″ smallie. Fun spot when the water is up.

I was down Lake Front way too but only managed a 4lb. Sheepy. Havin’ a hard time dialin’ in the crappies again this year…………I think I tried too soon and again too late…….it’s always been a narrow window along that area.

Haven’t seen any crapppie, but saw some saugers coming in. 2 weeks ago the walleye were biting fast and furious. That bigger smallie came as a surprise. It was caught by a 10 yr old friend of mine who was visiting for the weekend with his Dad. I thought he was caught on the wall. When the “wall” starting pulling back is when we got excited.

I’ve seen those “wall snags” down at the big dam as well. In fact, when fishing there, it’s become one of my “goto” techniques! Minnows or leeches help a lot but on the north side of the dam, the ledge you fish from is a small eddy that will hold fish as they dart in and out of the exchange pools. Set the bait down and wait. If you don’t have something within 10 minutes, do something else for an hour or so and try it again. Sooner or later, the feeders show up and you’ll get your bite. I have yet to get any real lunkers (other than white bass) doing this but I’ve seen others produce enough to believe it can happen with a small percentage of consistency. And as always, a smorgasbord of species!
