Nicer fish

The size of the fish have went up, specifically in the last two days. Many of these bigger fish are a solid 17 -18 inch range but the bigger 22 and 23 inch fish have started showing up! No the 14’s haven’t left and are still very active… This is great news for many anglers that had success earlier in the year but no size. Please release the over 20 inch fish because that’s the future.

Livebait rigs and cranks are taking fish – same techniques as earlier in the year but again just a lot nicer fish!

    Keep catchin’

I don’t like to complain openly, but sometime you have to. I took my wife out for a couple of hours today in Afton. This was her first time fishing this year..(too cold until today). The first pass she landed an 18″ which darn near took the rod out of her hands. After placing the fish in the live well and taking alot of ribbing we made the second pass. This time she was letting line out looking for the bottom (using a 3 oz weight and a rap, seldom can she tell you if she’s close to the bottom), she nails a 23.25! I’ve been fishing just about everyday for three weeks and haven’t caught anything over 19! The big one went back and we went home for some rib(ing) and eye dinner.

As Turk said the little guys are still out there but (at least for my wife) the bigger ones are showing up.

The “NO WAKE” bouys are up in Afton.

Gang – Just a quick note to say that I’m seeing some and hearing reports of bigger fish coming in (22 to 27″es), still not a ton of good eaters (larger than 15″es smaller than 20″es) like most years where the Memorial Day period is great for fillets, but some nice big eyes are being caught.. Also the smallies are biting well and with the falling water they should get forced out of the flooded scrub…Keep catchin’
