    EyeJacker,
I was out putting hours on a new Suzuki 140 4 stroke. I did see a few people fishing for crappies around the Hudson marina and the interstate bridge. I think the crappie bite will be hot later this week.

i know of 2 guys that fished north side of railroad bridge, did ok on crappies, but said the whites were plentiful on the #5 shadraps. i suppose this weekend will be like many in the past, the railroad bridge/hudson channel will be very busy.

I predict very heavy traffic through that trough. It seems to be quite popular in the early weeks of the season. For that very reason, I avoid it until it becomes less congested!

Heavy traffic but for the last 3 years I’ve been able to check some results and of those I’ve been able to converse with, many reports were dismal. I’ve always done better in that stretch from mid-May to early June.

I would focus on the lower end of it… toward the bridge…. and the upper.. toward the other bridge…. those are the places Ive done best on the opener in THAT stretch… still… there is a lot less pressure up river farther…. like out of marine, osceola and franconia….

I, on the other hand, like the area around Prescot for Opener. The stretch right below Prescot, yes I know it is already open, seems to usually turn on about that time. I am thankful it is almost here even though I won’t be on the Croix Saturday. Good luck everyone!!

Hit the Croix Tuesday 29th measured 54-57 degrees.
Managed 2 whiteys, 0 crappies, 4 eye/saugers, 1 channel cat, 4 smalleys, and all the sheepskins you wanted to catch.
Had a BIG cat on (I think) for about 5 seconds and all it did was scream out drag It was fun while it lasted. Good thing we didn’t listen to the weather report they seemed to be wrong…again!

Ferny, were you south? We fished Saturday up by TF and managed only one small walleye. Hoping for better this weekend!

I read that the crawler/leech bites starts at around 62 degrees. Think it will be up that high by Saturday? I’m fishing more plastics, but they can really turn on to crawlers.
