Should be about the right time for them there suckers. I remember standing on the cement edge of the sunrise dam and watching them boil in the water at the bottom of it.
The creek coming of the north end of goose lake has a good sucker run also. I was standing on the brodge there a couple years ago watching the suckers spawn. It looked like they would school up real tight and head for the bottom. It was neat that you could hear them banging the rocks around.
I will have to take a drive up there in the next couple weeks to check it out again.April 7, 2003 at 1:44 pm #263422hey i was just wondering..where this spot is on the sunrise river? good times..to go and catch them…i bet..would appreciate any info..
Thanks alot!!
ErikApril 7, 2003 at 7:35 pm #263457I dont have a clue as to the roads to get there but I can help a little. The sunrise is not a long river starting at carls averys and heading to the croix. The dam is east of 35 up towards the town of sunrise. A good map should help you find it. Just follow the river and where ever the roads cross it there should be a spot to fish. It is a good trip for a afternoon of bank fishing.

April 8, 2003 at 5:32 pm #263566Does anybody know where the suckers run…in wisconsin? Osceola area? or close to there?? They are fun to catch!! I would like to get out and catch some..in the area? let me know!!
April 9, 2003 at 3:30 am #263645You need to take a look at some of the small streams around there. Same as the sunrise river. Take a map of the area and find where the small streams go into or out of the lakes around there and head to where the roads cross them. I use to enjoy doing this in the spring time. Nice sunday drive looking for fish. You may be suprised at what you find.
April 22, 2003 at 6:54 pm #264865In case your interested I know of another sucker run that may be untapped. The Willow River in Willow River State Park near Hudson. The river is dammed into a lake then turns back into a river upstream of lake where it meets a waterfall. I was back there at the right time several years ago and they were so thick I went back home for a rod and hooked and released them until I was sick of it.
April 27, 2003 at 2:36 pm #265175I live right in the midst of the Sunrise, and have been fishing it almost on a daily basis since even before complete ice out. There was some nice activity just before the rains came and drastically cooled and raised the water. As for the suckers, they are still biting a bit but I think the run is done. A good bet is the park in Osceola under the bridge. Pitch out a crawler and you never know what you might get-but I have nailed a bunch of sucker there.
