Well this is the time of year where many anglers favorite approach of jig and minnow combo fishing really works well. My clients and I have been doing well jigging and it is about as much fun as you can have. I have great success with fatheads plus they don’t cost an arm and leg and are readily available. Fish in 15 to 30 feet, walleyes run shallower than saugers. We’ve been fishing a lot of the river and covering ground going well south of the Kinni and to the Bayport area with points in between. Give BfishN ringies a shot too, I like firecracker and purple with white tails they work on the Croix in late Ocotber and November.

Man! I bought some minnows here in Hastings the other day.. I think he thinks his minnows are made of gold! I don’t know what you guy’s pay, But I thought $4.25 for about 15 minnows was more than just alittle steep! Then he proceeded to tell me how and where to fish…….

I’m certain I do not know how to jig because people were catching saugers all over the place and I wasn’t.If I ever do another guide trip, I’ll have to make you show me the art of jigging….

    Chappy!
You got to use the super-doo at the bridge!

That goofy plastic spanks 3-1 over jig/minnow…….Don’t know why…..but it works.

I tried that…. I tried everything….I got a little tip from BrianK i might try. It’s about walleye, not catfishing! Brian put me on the 3 biggest fish this year, so I have to at least try it!

I’m not certain I know what I’m doing in the jiggin’ area either FWA. I couldn’t buy a bite out there today. I started out at about 8:30 just south of the 94 bridge and headed back through Hudson Bay, Bayport and Stillwater. I caught one small bluegill (?) with blood shot eyes… I’ve been seeing a lot of those fish in the past month or so. Does anyone know what the deal is with that? Anyway, I’ll keep at it for a while more as I’m not ready to store the boat just yet. I think I’ll be seeking you out for a guide in the spring Turk. I need all the help I can get!
