Congrats. VERY nice size fish. Bet they were fun bringing in.
Thanks, Bill
Those fish are AWESOME!!! I must say, however, that the contest may have been one day too early… while fishing for sauger/walleye today, we watched a couple of boats fishing sturgeon and they were catching some real beauties – the biggest I saw landed was over 54″ long and was GIRTHY!!!
One guy hooked up something LARGE and fought the fish for nearly an hour… at one point, he was lamenting that the line on that rod was over 5 years old (bad idea ). From what I could see, the line snapped before he could land the fish (poor fish, swimming around out there with a hook stuck in its mouth).
I would like to thank my guide (outdoors4life) who is a bit expensive but well worth it. For putting us on the fish, and having the ability to stick with it when it got real slow. nascarfan, sorry we didn’t wait for you to get a picture, but yes, you can say you were there when the winner was caught. I would also like to thank Jimmy’s in Stillwater for letting us have these contests in his backyard. I am glad everyone had a good time and was safe out there, and we look forward to doing it again next year. Before I stop here I also need to thank outdoors4lifes’ mother in-law (I think) for those delicious brownies we had while waiting for a bite.
WHAT!???

All Hanson brought along was pepperoni!
Next year…I’m following you Bob!
Congrats to the winners (although I’m a little suspicious of the guy sponsoring the contest winning it )!
I’m sad that the sturgeon season is over and I never got to tangle with one over 50″ Oh well, next year! I hope the Sturgeon Excursion is in the works for the spring.

Just so it is known I did not only put Bob on the wining hole….I am also the one who brought brownies, venison sausage, pop, water, Capacino, heavy anchor. The best part is we barely had the wind that all of you guys delt with. It was great out there and a fairly comfy day. I can’t wait till next year. Maybee I can break that darn 39 inch size.
Oh and my mother in law was the one who made brownies for me to bring. Can’t beat that can you.

Brian, did you use it for bait? Cause I was with Aqua Joe and he would have used that in a new fangled combo (shad/sucker/crawler/$16 prawns/and some summer sausage to top it off) what is that combo number 23? Did I miss anything Joe?
Joe an I had a great time out there Saturday. Thanks for bringing all the snacks!
