With the crappy weather we had today, tomorrows bite should be very good. The sturGies wanted a nice selection of cut sucker from Jimmy’s bait shop. Mediums worked best. We got a 53″ and a 51″ plus some in the 36 to 40″ range and a few babies.

There’s a lot of sturgeon grounds out there on the Croix waiting to be explored. Shown is Mark Cavaleri with a craddled 51″ sturGeon.

Here’s Mark with another big one, this craddle held fish was taped at 53″ and weighed at least ten more pounds than the skinny 51″, and a heck of a fighter, two boat circles and a lot of good moves, but Mark handled him very well!

It’s a shame the season closes so soon. Good luck.

    Keep Catchin’

I won’t use the rest of those suckers from today’s trip, (I’ll be jigging for tomorrow’s walleye trip) so if anybody wants them they’re yours, about a dozen or so. They work!ha. I left them in the Beanies livebait recycling tank. (Next to the outdoor bathroom in the parking lot!)Drive up and take them, Just leave me some fatheads and we’re square.

    Nice report Mate!
It was a whipper out there today. With wind gusts close to 50mph in some areas. Way to tough it out, and the reward was worth it.
    Great pics thanks for sharing.

I’m all over the used suckers. I’ll leave a tip under the tank.

    Fishin’ While Asian,

I think you left around 10:00 by the time you saw us the second time we had a limit of legals, and then ate lunch.
We then toured the river looking for big ones.
    Keep catchin’

    Damn you Scuba Steve!!!!

We left at 11:30 AM. I think I need more sensitive trolling rod and my power pro leader was too long. I was having trouble feeling the bottom….:(

    FWA,

Do not talk about my scuba diver on this board! Nobody needs to know. Go to Jimmy’s Bait shop they’ll sell you the Limit Creek trolling Rod that I use.

    C15,

Thanks, also thanks for some of the knowledge you shared with me about your thoughts on sturGies…One pointer in particular helped. I’ve also got a key point for you, I’ll tell you/show you when we meet up and fish.

I’m leaning towards a really nice Shimano Compre trolling rod. Costs a benjamin but I like it…

P.S. We need to go eat lunch one of these days…. Good stuff garanteed…
