This Saturday morning prior to heading out on the o’l St Croix for Bob Moores end of the season Sturgeon Contest, the infamous Chris Hanson (from http://www.hanson-outdoors.com) and I will be having breakfast at the Bungalow Inn located just off of I-94 on MN 95.

This is an open invitation, everyone is welcome to stop in grab a bite to eat or fill up your thermos…sorry, no Bloody Mary’s to go.

Now normally when Hanson and I go out fishing…it’s the NEXT day when I get into the big fish. I’m really hoping that’s not true this time around.

I know that Hanson is due for a big fish…but I don’t think we started an eel pot…so he’s not going to count.

    Let the trash talk begin!!!

PS Chris…how about this…the angler with the smallest sturgeon of the day buys breakfast? You in turkey??

Ps you don’t need to fish the contest to stop in…and the more the merrier…beside, I want to practice my acceptance speach prior to the Sunday Awards Banquet at Moores Bait….

    (let me clear my throat…ehm…ehmmm..EEEHHHMMM!)

    FISH ON!

Not too often I make the Subject line of a post around here.
    Surprise! Surprise! this morning.

I’m not sure if I’m due for 1 more big fish this year but I’ll take it. Its been a dang good year so far for big fish… 54lb Sturgeon (LOW), 48lb Flathead Cat (MN River), 21lb Channel Cat (Red), couple walleyes around 8lb, and a few near 50″ Sturgeon from the Croix.

If I happen to pick up the smallest sturgeon, I’ve got your breakfast Brian.

For the rest of you, tickets are selling for $15 a seat to sit with us in additional to the cost of your eggs & bacon.

no shot meant just makes me wonder how some people see someone hammering the fish in a spot, night after night then that person cant show up for a few weeks because of personal issues, mainly work, and quickly its someone eles’s spot they found all on their own

I think he was refering to a spot directly under a land mark…you know…Ryan’s spot.

How did I get dragged into this? Or are you talking about a different Ryan? I don’t think I’ve ever claimed someone else’s spot as my own.

catten addict.. I have actually never fished *your spot*.. I drive around in circles for 30 minutes looking for that spot(not marked on gps) and I never hit it. I have been near it many times.

You can have that spot, thats where the little sturgeon hang

I’ll be dropping anchor where ever the taddle-tail signs on the depth finder tell me to.

Im with you on that one Mark! but I dont know if it would stop them I was heading thru the kinni narrows tuesday and there were a few guys fishing the north end with olny about 40 feet between them and we watched one of them crusers run full tilt right between two boats. We watched the boat come into the “no wake” thinking …. When is he going to slow down… theres not too much room there for him. Well he never did Them guys had to be pretty pissed

So your saying the early bird catches the worm???

I say the early worm is screwed!

I figure Hanson and I only need 15 minutes on the water…not counting the fight…We’ll be at the bar until Larry and crew has the burgers goining…then back to the bar…

    70 inches??? Piece of cake!

Brian.. if the early bird was involved, I would be happy to blow it out of the sky if it meant I didnt have to wake up early again in the future!

I guess it could be much worse.. it could be…. ice fishing
