Just checked the US Army website – looks like the water temp made a dramatic drop on Sept 8 and the fall has slowed slightly. As I’m relatively new to the river, does this drop signal the start of the fall bite?

The weather forecast for next week has daytime highs in the low 60’s and nighttime lows in the low 40’s. The water temp will start to tumble with those temps. I was out on Tuesday chasing sturgeon – my son picked up a nice 53″ fish that really gave him a tussle. He caught 3 sturgeon and I got blanked. It was really a lot of fun. Here is a pic of his big fish.

    Nice fish Guys!
as far as water temps. ON the Minnesota rivers, temps dropped by 10 degrees over the span of 4 days.

C15 is right with lows in the 40s the temps will drop like a rock.
    thanks

sounds like good news!!! I’ll be out of town ’til Sunday afternoon but if all goes well, I’ll be on the Croix then. Time to rig up a couple of poles for three-ways, maybe a bottom-bouncer, a gum-ball, multicolor jig, …

Anyone know where I could pick up some redtail chubs in the Hudson area? The places I know about only have fatheads and suckers…
