Saugers, saugers, saugers, and one walleye…

Did very well for saugie dogs this weekend… couple times limited out in less than two hours with nice ones (was great fun for the kids and guests)… spent rest of time looking for eyes… checked out the spots that were good last few years this time of year and only picked up one (very nice) walleye…

Saugs were along the mudline (only fish mudline when Im desperate) and in the places that I usually find walleyes… (sand bars into deep water and bottom of sand flats)… the one walleye was in 25 fow at bottom of bar caught on a Gulp (orange) minnow with crawler while fishing for saugers… go figure…

Anyway anyone actually find walleyes this weekend ??? THe other boats I talked with reported about the same as I found, saugers out the yang… but very few walleyes.

The local park manager (tend to believe him) said he caught a bunch (walleyes) in 25 fow three way with flaoting raps, we tried with nothing… the only other walleyes we saw caught were slow drifting fatties in 20-30 fow…

Also both boat and fishing traffic were EXTREMELY LIGHT Friday, Saturday, and Monday… Sunday was a little busy…

We fished last Saturday with crawlers and ony picked up a few. Switched to trolling the points with cranks on Sunday and picked up 9 nice eyes in two hours. Small perch deep divers in 8-10 fow, mid/late afternoon. Boat traffic was the norm (terrible), but I think it, along with the wind, helped keep the fish in the shallow water. Can’t wait to get out there again..!

I was out from 11-6:30 yesterday. Walleyes were tough. Saugers easier and bass everywhere. We caught bass on every technique in every water depth. They are definitely still on a tear. No huge ones. I think the biggest was 14 or 15. Didn’t measure any. Multi species day. Pike, walleye, sauger, flathead, silver, smallie, sheephead.
