I was out this eve on shore and I was shown a pic of an eel that was over 4 feet long!! I have never seen one this big and was wondering if anybody out there has seen one before and maybe have a pic. I tried to get him to e-mail me the pic but he doesn’t know how from his phone.
I met a fella ice fishing a couple winters ago that had a photo of himself and a eel that was closer to 6 feet. He was holding it high above his head and the tail was on the ground. I’ll never have a photo of an eel as my line isn’t strong enough to withstand the sharp edge of a knife… 
I caught one (american eel) a few years back in the sippi on a stinky dead shrimp. It was 5′ 4″, but only weighed in at a little over 2 lbs. Very interesting catch, to say the least
