I also spent the day on the Croix on Tuesday. By far the nicest day of the season to be on the water. The sun was hot and the wind was light. Hit the water around 11:15 am and fished until 7:45 pm.
The bite started out on fire. Two short drifts and I boated 1 legal, 3 short Walleye, and a nice smallie. The smallie and two of the Walleye hit very agressive, they just about took the rod out of my hand when they bit.
The bite slowed and I picked up a few more to finish with 4 legals. The interesting catch of the day was a Walleye head. Someone snagged up and broke off in some timber. The Walleye must have taken the bait and remained snagged until it died. The turtles finished the rest of the fish.
One more thing. To the two gentlemen that watched me net a fish and proceded to anchor directly in my drift path. (at the time we were the only boats in the area) It was nice to see you both struggle to find the bite.
Sorry, just needed to vent a little.
