Finly able to gwet out on the croix today for a few hours. Just stuck with trolling today as i had the family with and this is the easyest way to fish with the kids. Trolling started out pretty slow but on the third spot we checked we found a few walleyes and saugers still hanging around. Didnt have any real pattern for where the fish where located. Just fished spots I had found them before. Trolled jointed grappler shads and rattle traps. Didnt take long for the fish to show prefrence for the rattle traps. Pumping the rods was a must also.
Looks like the upper river is in real good shape. Water levels are up a little which is good. Not alot of garbage in the water.
Hope to get back out in the morning for a while.

Made it back for a few hours this morning. It was a much better bite this morning. Still not much for size. Must of picked up close to 20 eyes and saugers trolling. Just stuck to the rattle traps and pumping the rod. The rod that was left in the holder caught maybe 3 fish.
Also tryed some live bait on a couple of spots this morning. Nothing going on this. Would think in the next week or so this should realy change.

i found a bunch of silver bass today near osceola.
i was fishing a mouth of a backwater area (where i caught and saw alvinmack catch a bunch last week) without much luck until i saw them slashing at baitfish out in the main chanel. then i caught one after another twitching a floating rap. i was in the midle of a serious feeding frenzy. every few minutes they would start chasing baitfish on the surface all around me. didn’t catch any walleye today and i took your advice and used a rattletrap and that didn,t work for me either. caught 3 eyes last tues and 3 more saturday on crank baits and jigs but just can’t get into enough for a meal.
    nice to meet you.
i met you a few weeks ago down on pool 2.
also it was nice to meet alvinmack and sliderfish last week.
    good luck

Good to hear you found some. That area will hold alot of them this time of year. As it get later into the summer look for the bite to be best real early in the morning and as the sun goes down. Middle of the day may show nothing.

Heading for that spot early thursday morning if the weather is not to bad. I love it when you can pick out the schools surface feeding well before you even get to the spot.

The trolling bite can be real spotty this time of year. Its a matter of finding where the school is hanging and then that might change. Also the saugers where making up the majority of my catch but this will also change as those fish move back down river. Not many saugers seem to stay in that area during the summer. There can be some good days of walleye trolling up there after the saugers leave.
Cant waite to get back over there in the morning.

The fish where still there this morning. It was a little tough getting them to bite. The wind sure didnt help things out. Still caught most fish on rattle traps. Today the rod in the rod holder caught most of the fish.

Still didnt get into the white bass. They dont seem to feed as well in windy conditions. Maybe next time.
