We hit the St. Croix today and had a pretty good day, 7 walleyes, 5 keepers all around 17 and one 21.We caught almost all of our walleyes in 11-15 ft of water, and surprisingly all of our walleyes came on crawlers or leaches, the only thing we caught on minnows were white bass and sheephead. All of the walleyes were on lindy rigs with a green bead.We ventured out and found some new spots, not any of the community holes. It amazed me how many people spend time watching you fish instead of fishing. We started at Kinnik. and got swarmed right away so we left and had a great day away from the crowds.I hope to get back there tomorrow.

Nice report sippi. I was also out Saturday. I boated 4 legals from 15″+ to 19″, caught a handful of short Walleye, a 13″ Sauger, a couple of pig Smallies, and a 3-4 pound sucker. The sucker had my heart pounding until I got it to the boat. The wind and waves were brutal and everyone in the area I was fishing had to work for every fish. Boat control was key to catching fish. Bouncing around for most of 12 hours on the Croix really broke in my sea legs. I sat down for dinner Saturday night and felt like I was going to fall over.

Everbody a little tight lipped today? There was a ton of boats out fishing this weekend, must not have been many IDA members out there.

Sunday was a little slow… pulled several saugs 17, 17 and 18, and couple 13 inch crappies, Everything caught was on a lindy rig with a minnow and depths varied from 18 to 26. Alot of boat traffic Sunday, made it difficult to fish some areas.

I didn’t make it out sunday but I think I am going to spend my opener on the St. Croix, I figure it should be fairly quiet out there on saturday. I really appreciate the good reports on this site, especially when I only get out one day a week, anytime I can throw my 2 cents in I do.

My buddy Nuts and I were out Sunday morning. Hit the water about 6:15 (Not bad considering I was up until 1:3o AM in Shoreview after being the best man in my brother’s wedding), and we were filled out with 12 by shoirtly after 10 AM. The biggest was an identical pair of 19″ walleyes. We split walleyes and saugers 50/50, and had only 2 (saugers) under 15″. Fiahed in the same area as last weekend (by Prescott), but a little further up. The key for us seemed to be speed. If you thought you were moving to fast and dragging the jig, that’s when we got the hits. If we slowed down to go vertical, they wouldn’t bite.
    Looking forward to Saturday morning-
    Greg
