Hey, anybody getting any craps? I hit it mid last week, I found 3-5 inches of ice. No luck on the crappies though.

I then packed up and hit a good walleye lake in my area, got good numbers though no size on the jigging raps (man the eyes love those) that and the bucksot rattle spoon.

What size were the jigging raps, one or twos?

Gotta love them raps Has anyone had any luck with the shad style raps. I picked up one in blue and white and another in perch pattern last year. I used them quite a bit and didnt get near the same results as with the normal thinner style. Maybe the action???? Still not going to give up on them. They still did better than the chubby darter. Gave that thing away last year

I went down to bayport this morning and was suprised to see a few other people out also. I figured with the snow I might be the olny one down there but some othere guys must have called in late with the same excuse We were down there from 7-9am and had quite a few lookers but just a couple takers. Still nice to get back down to the river and drill some holes

How much ice did you have at Bayport?

Steve, I had 4-5 about everywhere I checked but I didnt wonder around too much. I was out on white bear on saturday and had some areas with 2 inches of bad ice and 2 feet away 4 inches of good ice. It depended on how much snow was on that piece of ice but with the new snow we have theres not going to be much new ice being made so everyone please be carefull the next week or two. It was pretty slow out there but if plans fall out for going north I may be back down saturday.

    Thinker,

I like the big ones, sorry no size specification, I just like the bigger ones. The fish seem to commit to the bite better.
I use the second or third largest they make.

Do you use the raps the way they are or add some part of a minnow???

    mbarron,
Let the fish tell you. I usually have good luck with a minnow head on the treble but some days we do better without. Especially if they are aggressive and looking for alot of action out of the rap.I seen they came out with some new color patterns also
