3 hits with the Spud at Bayport – Still not enough

I just got back from Bayport and it is still not enough ice for me. Three hits with the spud and I was into water. It was probably 2 inches thick. There is one other problem too – the water dropped after its initial freeze so there is hollow ice all along the shore. There is usually open water along the shore at 1st ice but this could make it a little tougher. We need a few more days of cold weather.

Hi Steve, thanks for the heads up. Sounds like it will be walkable by the weekend.

BigFish, Goose is kind of a backwater (with springs?) We have the King Power plant spewing 50 degree water out a little further up stream. With the temps now, it should be making good ice. Just seems like it take a bit longer to get going.

Thanks for the report Steve…I’m hoping to recruit a new IDA member from that spot this winter. It’s my honey hole!
