I haven’t fished below the Stillwater bridge for at least 20 years. Usually spend most of my time north of there. I would like to explore farther south and get reaquainted with the area. A friend was talking about the big sand or sandbar, but couldn’t explain where that was. Could anyone pass on some of the names and areas that fisherman refer to. I just like to get out and fish, catch and release mostly, but may keep a couple of eyes for dinner now and then. Thought it would be nice to try areas where I haven’t been for years. Thanks

There’s no telling where he’s talking about. Almost all of the points from Stillwater down are nice and sandy. The only thing I can think of is the Wisconsin sand flats just south of Hudson. My advise is to pick up the Fishing Hot Spots maps from Fleet Farm, both the upper and lower portions. They are chock full of good spots and presentations for the Croix. I did catch two 26.5″ eyes under the Wi side of the Stillwater bridge back in ’92. That was a good year!

Ferny…you haven’t been fishing since ’92? We have to get you out more!

When the fish are biting on the Croix and you ask where…people say…everywhere…and that’s the truth.
Many people just go out and fish the sand points…couple fish off this point, a couple off the next…Seems like there’s a couple fish…all over. The sand flats should be good..although I haven’t see too many boats in that area. Catfish bar seems like theres alway 4 or 5 boats there too.

Watch your locator for a few fish and work’em…or just watch for the “double bubble Crestliner and follow him…

I have been out 7 of the last 10 days and am finding fish in a wide range of places, including South Huson Bay! Walleyes, sauger and silver bass are on a rampage. My wife, I Da’ Woman, and I caught 21 today all returned to fight again. The largest was a 21″ walleye followed up with one at 18.5″. Seven of today’s tally were silver bass! That is the way it has been going for the previous 6 times out! What a magnificent time of year, say nothing of the fishing bonanza!
