No cruiser traffic and the fishies were snappin!!
The 1st bite came about 5 minutes after I started fishing and continued steady till about 10am. No real monsters, a mix of eyes and saugdog from 14-18″ pounding the jig and minsk. A few missed fish left heads only on the jig.
Catfish bar area, water temp around 53^.
It was nice to catch fish again, after a tough summer for me. I didn’t get out as much, and when I did, I couldn’t find fish for squat. Today’s fish were all fat and healthy, so they’ve been eating well!
    Ahh, fall on the Croix!

    Ingy.
Nice report. I’m 10 minutes for the Croix and I’ve never fished it….the lack of a boat has a big say in that.

A friend and I did get out today on the Croix, and what a fantastic outing it was! The walleye and sauger bite was steady all day(7:30A-1:30P)! The catch (fish in the boat) included one, but only one, white bass, the others were all ‘eyes or sauger! The white bass represented 3.225% of the days count! Nine fish were kept for the fish fry (not including the white bass) the rest were released! The folks with a little mathmatical dexterity will detemine just how good the bite was!

    Eyejacker,
Just over 5 fish an hour is pretty decent action. I can’t wait to get out there! Suprising more white bass weren’t caught.

Ah, a mathematician. Warms the cockles of my heart! Only one white bass surprised us also! It was, in all probability, my best day ever on the Croix! No big ladies, 20″ was the biggest. All were in prime condition, they had been eating well!

Eye Jacker? Did you hear about the constapated mathematician?

He worked it out with a pencil…

I’ve been hearing they are real porkers! Wish the wind would slow a bit…I must be getting old!

Although we did not catch any, the only thing even resembling a crappie was your joke!
