We were out this afternoon from 1:30 to 4:30 and picked up 7 sturgeon. Three biggest were 53″, 43″, 36″ and the rest were about 24″. Water temp was 51 degrees and the Prescott river reading has leveled off at 682.4′. She is high and muddy with a lot of debris floating, we saw a lot of good sized logs floating almost submerged so be careful out there. It was nice on the St Croix today with very little boat or cruiser traffic. Cut sucker seems to be the “Go To” bait right now. The season is still on through 16 October – we are catch and release only and we sure had fun today. They are really beautiful fish!!

If all goes well I will be out there sometime tomorrow… A little rain isnt going to keep me away from trying to set the hook into at least one of those creatures!

    Steve…

Thank you for the information you gave me in the past. That info turned itself into good fishing this afternoon for a couple hours for blacksportsman and myself. We managed 2 fish just over 47″, one just under 40″, and another little ovr acheiver somewhere just under 30″… a bonus eater channel made it a heck of a afternoon fishing. I will post some pics shortly.

Nice fish, Dave. I’m glad to hear there was a channel cat caught in the mix. I plan on chasing channels right up until ice up.

I tried to come up with some type of believable lie.. couldnt do it.

Steve’s neighbor(name escapes me) was bouncing jigs around out there trying to find scaled species.. he was of great assistence(offered) to measure fish and get a few good photo’s.. we forgot the tape measure

He also caught notice of me trying to start a motor to no end ont he way back to the launch… thank goodness I grabbed the trolling motor.

*Note to self* .. turn ignition ON when trying to start a motor and they wont flood out
