My husband caught & released this barred muskie on Sunday. It was his first muskie ever ( it took me 3 muskies over a series of years to get one the size of this!). I also found out I don’t do so well when I’m on the netting end of things when it comes to big fish. Ultimately he reached into the water & lifted it out of the water suffering a few cuts to his fingers in the process.

All’s well that ends well. We got to try out our ‘marine first aide kit’ and the muskie got to go back into the water to live on. Length was 37 inches but it was a hefty fish coming in bigger than my earlier catch in the year.

I finally got the photo to post!! Sorry for the delay.

Great fish! How about a vague hint as to location, such as caught above Taylors Falls or below?

I purposely didn’t put any of those details in my post, you know how that goes, but a hint? Is this a trick question, like you already think you know the location, but your trying to verify your guess? Well, the Croix does cover a lot of territory, so okay, I’ll give you this much: it was below Taylor Falls and it was caught in about 14′ of water. That’s ALL I’m saying. Good Luck figuring it out from there.

Good enough, Thanks! I’m happy with that much detail. I know there are muskies above Taylors Falls but have not seen or heard much about those below the dam. I know they gotta’ be down here also, however, I have only hooked into a small one (22″) several years back while trolling cranks for ‘eyes. I have not really fished them much on the SCR in the past, but, alas, my interest has been rekindled!

Whoa! That’s some Silver Bass! He’s a mean looking sob…er the fish…I mean!

Now…as for the location….EVERYONE knows there isn’t any muskies in the St Croix…or bass…so where did you guy catch it?!

    Very nice pic EL!
