Drift Boats

I was curious if any of you use or see drift boats on the St. Croix. I’m not from the area but my dad grew up in Osceola and spend a good chunk of his childhood on the St. Croix. We’re looking into a drift boat for fly fishing some of the warmwater rivers around the midwest. There was an article in our local paper (Duluth) about drift boats and how suitable they are for rivers like the St. Croix, St. Louis, and some of the other larger river systems in our area. Do you river regulars ever see them on the water?

    Welcome to IDA NshorFly!

I’m too far south for a good drift boat to be worth while…I have been known to fish from the bow of my Lund, using the trolling motor an fly fishing for smallies.
But the timing has to be right because of the large pleasure craft.
I’m not sure…but you might get more responses in the Fly Fishing forum…

I’ve always wanted to fish for some “big” fish up there with my fly rod…but never knew when they were running…(my brother in law that lives in Grand Marais doesn’t know a fish from a squirrel…
