Last day before school

I had a chance to finally get out with my boy, on the last day before his school starts. The outing started out with an enormous gar hitting his line as the line was being let out. That fish was mongo gar, biggest I’ve seeen and happy it got away as my hands didn’t want to wrestle with all those teeth. It did a flip -threw the hook and swam away.

Then about ten minutes later he caught this dandy walldad! It was a real fun day. This was another pole bender!Hopefully this big one is a sign of a slammin’ Fall bite! Though that’d still be weeks away.

Fantastic and look at that smile—- I am in the same boat as your son as i am a teacher and I am not back to work again too. Take a kid fishing and show them what its all about I belive and you will not have other problems later on in life,,,,,,, Get hooked on fishing not drugs!!!
Great work plan on taking my kids out and seeing if we can hook a sturegon…..

Very nice walleye and gar can be a blast too, such an odd & long fish. Someone’s going to grow up to be a angler.

Thanks for all the enthusiastic replies! He’s not shy to talk it up a bit! I’ll never live down the 23 to 9 perch fishing trip when him and I hit Cass Lake two summers ago. Funny thing is I bait the hook and he catches the fish…and takes the credit .

I hope he grows up to like fishing in general, maybe he’ll be a cat man? …you never know what the passion will be with each kid.
