Fish On! and I got out to the river to do the fishing and a bit of camping. We had never tried to catch cats but thought “Hey if Brian K can do it we can.” So we through a big sucker stake on a circle and Waited….. The next morning was the first action on the stakes. One took mine and ran after setting the hook Fish On! could feel he was in the wood. Line broke fish gone. Not 5 Min later Fish On!’s line took off repeted all the steps and this time he brought her in. Now for you big cat guys What do you thing this fish would weigh? We had a blast with only one cat we did get 3 leather back turtles, a painted turtle, suckers, sheepies, rock bass, small mouth bass, and walleye. Man I see how you cat guys can get hooked. Please let us know What you think she weighed. We only had her out long enough to get a few photos and let her go she is still there waiting for you.

Nice kitty. I took my neighbors out early Saturday morning and Jen hooked into something in about 67 fow. 20 mintues later she brought up a 23″ channnel that I figured had to go 10-12lbs. She was using a very light pole. What a blast!

Fantastic fish for the first try!

I’m thinking in the 30’s about 32…but it’s a hard guess with the angle fo the fish…
The belly doesn’t stick out on the sides… if it did…I would be guessing more like 39/40.

    Do you have more pictures?

Either way…I could hear someone screaming “FISH ON! FISH ON!” about 7 am yesterday morning!

Brian. Fish On! is on Vacation so Ill have have to weight for him to get back to ask about other photos. The belly was just huge. I thought the fish went about 45 pounds. Just compairing it to a 45 pound weight for weight lifting. It is 47″ long. We were up near the Rock Island Near the Fraconia landing up by hwy 8.The bait was about a 1 1/2″ thick sucker stake.

I see that Fish On!’s name is Steve. Would that happen to be Steve Arzdorff (sp?)? He looks just like a Steve I knew from the U of MN-Morris back in the early 1990’s.

If so, hello from Curt and Keely (Palmer) Rees. If not, nice fish nonetheless.

Nice fish guys. Got to love that sand bar also. Spent a few nights on it myself in the past. Should be good fishing over there from now until freeze up. I could just picture you guys when that cat came to the top. Must of been a hoot.

Any guesses as to this ones weight? I was so pumped after getting it in I forget to measure or weigh it! Thats a Coleman 18 cooler next to it and a big Frabill net. I thought it weighed about 30-35 lbs. from the feel of it.

    Thanks,

    Ferny.
