Anybody hear anything about Muskies on the St. Croix. I heard they are in there and would like to see for myself. Is the lure selection the same as it would be a lake? I like spinnerbaits what do you think about starting with that selection to try to catch one?

The ones I have caught were on accident either jig and minnow or shad rap. I have fished them and seen quite a few follows but no takers yet. I have used bucktails, Spinner baits and plastics. They are hard to catch and gettin anyone to talk about it is even harder out on the Croix.
June 13, 2005 at 10:34 pm #367907Thanks for your comment but I know there are—– dont worry I’ll leave you some…… Catch Photo and Release. I am a Muskie Inc. member so you don’t have to worry about any mis-treatment of a beautiful fish.
June 13, 2005 at 10:37 pm #367909I am very new to this method of checking what is happening with the fishing scene so I don’t know what (pm me means??)
sorry but it took me awhile to figure out how to send a message. So Please what does pm mean???June 14, 2005 at 4:07 am #368032Hi Mark! Welcome to the site and the St Croix…(where there aren’t any muskies! )
I don’t target muskies, but have caught a few nosing around for them eyes.
A PM is a private message. On the top of your screen (just to the left of Forums), there will be a flashing envelope if you have a PM waiting for you. You can view them if you click on “My Home” just to the right of Forums also. Then just follow the instructions if you want to reply, delete the message. I believe you are allowed 300 pm’s in your “mail box” then the oldest will start falling off.
It’s a great way to chat and not have the whole world know where the muskies are hitting …on the croix!I would help you out but I just know where I see people casting 2×4’s and an evening cruise down the Croix will pretty much tell you that…
Good luck and hope to see some pictures from the Croix!

MarkJune 15, 2005 at 4:39 pm #368439Hi mbarron. My son caught that muskie in the late fall of 2002. We were trolling down by the NSP Plant in Bayport. It was a fun day but colder than heck. We didn’t have a camera with so we motored up to Stillwater and ran up to the Convenience Store and bought a throwaway camera and shot some photos. The musky fishing has improved every year since, there are some nice fish throughout that whole area. Here is a picture (I finally figured out what I was doing wrong).
June 16, 2005 at 2:59 pm #368675Welcome to the site mbarron!
There is a ton of good information here at this friendly site. You just need to filter out some of the fun and ribbin that goes on here to get the good info. Feel free to post any questions or answer any that you might feel you have insight to. I don’t fish the Croix, at least yet But, I do know my buddy has pulled a few good ones out just North of Stillwater !
June 16, 2005 at 3:28 pm #368681My advice for working muskies on the Croix is to power troll with a buddy!!!
You can run 4 lines and cover alot of ground.
The structure on Croix offers a great trolling run.
