My nieces ages 3 and 4 have been begging me to go fishing lately so I decided to bring them out today for the 1st fishing trip of their young lives! We kept the day short and only fished for about 3 hours today 10:30 to 1:30 It didn’t take long to get them there 1st fish ever trolling some cranks. (I held the rod while they reeled) We also pulled a lindyrig around to put some fish in the boat. We had a a good mix of walleye sauger and of course sheephead. They both caught a nice 20″er each unfortunately those fish were to big for the girls to hold for pics. It was a great time, we caught plenty of fish to keep them interested and I think we have got some future fisherwomen here. The picture is of Skye (4) with her 1st fish ever!

Its good to see the kids fishing. A trick we use is to leave the rods locked in the rod holders while the kids real in the fish. They real them up to 5′ and i take it from there. Trolling with kids can be easyer than bobboer fishing with them.

I had to take a double look when I read your post.

Lindy, the best memories are made taking a little guy/gal out fishing.
