The fishing proved to be tough for most today in the anual Ham walleye tourny held on the Croix today. 6 fish weighing in at 11.50 lbs was good enough for 1st in a tourney where 18 lbs would usually be considered a good bag. Big fish trophy was awarded to a walleye weighing in at 5.62 lbs.
Fishing was slow in my boat today only 2 legal walleye made it to the net a 17″ and a 24″. After 4 hours of trolling cranks and only one legal and some shorts and a ton of sheepies to show for our efforts it was clear something had changed since the day before. So my partner Mike Cranz and I resorted to lindy rigging. After several short bites on full crawlers. I put on a half crawler and caught this 24″ eye around 1:30 and that was all she wrote. Congratulations to the winners!

When I crossed the Croix today, the wind was whipping pretty good. The boats out there were really bobbing. I wasn’t too upset about not being on the water. Nice Fish!!!

Lindy! Nice fish! Lot’s of work went into that lady!

From the background, I know that area and it’s generally on of the few that gives up a good eye now an then. I hope to get out Sunday for a short while…hope to see you out there!

    Good fish!

Oh sorry, Briank that is actually just a pic taken at lakefront, I didn’t catch it in the area, I brought it back to see if it might take big fish honors unfortunately someone got one slightly bigger at 5 lbs so I just took a pic and released it right there.
Kooty the waves were rough but manageable and anyways I think it was the cold more than anything that made for a tough bite.

Do they hold that tournie every year?? I have never fished a tournie and looks like it would be pretty fun. If so how much does it cost to enter???

11.5 LBS stringer weight I might even have had a chance last weekend at that one. We put back a handfull of 18+ inchers. But with my luck that would never happen if I entered

Are you sure you didn’t catch that off of Beanies dock? That’s where Turk generally catches them….

Do they make life jackets out of Kalvelar?
