Fished saturday morning on the croix. Caught some walleyes with 4 being legal and a few more that weren’t. Biggest was 17 inches. Caught most of the fish on a crawler with a few biting on leeches. The fish still don’t seem too aggressive. I really had to feed them line in order to hook em. The sheepies were pretty hungry too this past weekend. Didn’t catch as many sheepies on leeches though. Anybody have some luck trolling cranks this weekend?
I had the same issue last week. Had to feed the heck out of them. Tried half a crawler but they didn’t like the looks of that. I should tie up some stinger rigs but I always snag them up faster.
I fished Sunday morning and couldn’t buy a fish on a crawler! Had 5 in the livewell by 8:15 AM, all on minnows. Tried til 11 to limit but couldn’t get one more that wasn’t either too big (under 20″- my self-imposed “slot”) or too small (over 14″- sauger, of course).
All fish were caught actively jigging in 22-25 FOW. Drug a crawler around on a dead line (split-shot type rig) and never had a taker.
