Our little Beach Superette has been closed for about 8 months since they went belly up….

Wife #1…er…The Number One Wife called to tell me they were opened today with a new name…”Freedom”. This is good and bad.

They were telling her that they will be handling minnows along with worms and leaches…this is good.

But Freedom owns the gas station about two miles down the road (by Schmiggs)…which means no more competitive gas pricing… this is bad.

So..at least you can get bait while your getting screwed.

Sometimes you gotta take the good with the bad, right….? I think Hudson needs a little friendly competition. Gas, was $2.09 almost everywhere on my way home from the Rainy today including Stillwater, then I get to N. Hudson and it’s $2.27

I live in Somerset, but I work in West St Paul, and I never put gas into the tank in Wisconsin. For some reason, crossing that bridge adds anywhere from 15 to 20 cents to the cost.

I know WI has extra gas taxes, but I honestly don’t believe it is 15 to 20 cents a gallon.

Unfortunatly…the two Freedom stores are owned you that same company as the Freedoms in Hudson…Although gas was 2.25 all over today…St Croix Beach was still the amazingly low price of $2.09.

From my understanding, WI has a road tax that…once it builds up to a certain amount…it stops…then when it runs out of funds it kicks in again. Just what I’ve been told.

That seems to make sense Briank as there isn’t always such a difference. I was ready to move to MN between the gas taxes and our projected later start on the croix. thankfully the croix situation is straightened out! Now, what to do about that $2.35 a gallon gas price in hudson today I need a bike.

Last summer in Prescott, there was a notice on the pumps….Taxes .49 cents per gallon. Someone posted what the tax was for all 50 states…

But you know that if gas continues to climp…people will use less, which means less money for the state…which means someone at the capital will find something else to tax to make up the differance…

I’m thinking it’s going to be….Bacon…yup! Bacon. Everybody likes it and it’s not good for you…

    It’s coming…Bacon tax.
