Has anyone else noticed the DNR’s boat they have out on the croix this year. I have seen him at least three times this year up by rock island. I haven’t seen any DNR out here in five years. except for the creel guys a few years back.
Anyway, The boat is a 16′ john with a 60 hp johnson jet on the back. You cant miss it when he is crusing. It sounds like a airplane flying right up the channel. I think he puts in at Taylors falls and i would emagine that he must be able to patrol a long way down river in that boat. I bet that boat would get through the backwaters up here pretty good year round.
Anyone else seen him out this year or is this just new to me?

Isn’t everything North of the Arcola sandbar a leisurely speed zone not wide open ? Just wondering.

It is a outboard with a jet on the bottem instead of a prop. Maybe i did see a tunnel hull on the boat. I will have to take a closer look next time. It is a nice boat . The first time he stopped by was on a thursday evening and he had it crusing pretty fast coming by rock island. He stopped and gave my son a ticket for a free ice cream cone for wearing his life jacket. Jonathen thought that was great. Now its not so hard to make him keep it on.
Yes it is leisure speed up here. The second time he stopped by I had just opened up my 15hp to shoot across the river to the next hole. I was told to slow down. That was on thursday the 4th. That day and one other time i saw him they where crusing leisure speed. Lots of canoes out both of those times.
If i had a boat i know i would need to open it up once and a while.

This was the first time I saw him too. I was fishing ’bout a mile north of the Zebra check point. They asked us where we put in and when. Checked our fish. Checked our story again. Being thorough I guess. I asked them about their setup. Said they only needed 4 inches of water to run in. I run a 16 ft. deep-v so I bump the bars plenty. Darned tootin’ I have boat envy.
