I know things are slow on the board here so I wanted to get some opinions.Last year I thought it would be fun to have a little contest targeting sheeps. Anyone can catch them but a big stringer of them is a challenge. There are some monsters in there and catching one could make you the king sheep Just an idea to kick around. If there were many people intrested let me know what you think. It would be fun to get some people together and I dont thing weeding a few sheepies out of the river will hurt a thing.

How many to a “limit?” I think your idea would be fun but to keep someone from weighing in 45 – 2 lb sheepers I’d do a “best weight out of eight” or something like that.
Catching little sheepers is easy. Being able to consistently catch 5 – 10 Lb sheepers would be a challenge.
Just a suggestion.
January 25, 2005 at 6:10 pm #338507That is one thing we would have to agree on. I was thinking
6-8 fish per boat/pair or however we want to set it up.Just so you have to catch a few nice ones or one monster with a solid stringer to take it.Best weight out of eight is a great idea!! Thanks JamesJanuary 26, 2005 at 9:37 pm #338867Would there be a big sheep fry at the end??? I’ve got the recipe!!!
I think it’d be a hoot to do something “unusual” like that! AND……. it’d be something I honestly thought I had a fair shot at!!!
January 27, 2005 at 8:46 am #338969Oh pish posh! It’s WAAAAAAAAAaaaayyyy better than chicken! I find chicken to be……….. rather fowl. Okay……. so that one stinks! I’ll leave the corny jokes to Briank!
Who’s bringing the grill???
January 27, 2005 at 4:01 pm #339032I was going to suggest a big sheepie fry but I somehow knew you’d beat me to it, Kid.
January 28, 2005 at 3:34 pm #339264Brian where are ya??
If sheepies dont tempt you too much I can bring along some Mud puppies to grill up There pretty yummy too
We still have a good month of fishing left so Im sure a puppy or two will come thru the hole I’ll make sure to save a couple for us
January 31, 2005 at 6:02 am #339665Hey BMan…I was down south…
No, no you have it all wrong, it Comancharo that’s the M puppie man. He likes the way they fight.
I prefer silvers to be honest…but I can lower myself to sheephead…I ‘spose. Although Stillakid will have to show me how to catch them.

Might as well…….. I suppose. I mean……. might as well keep with tradition……. right? Teach ya where to go…….. with what lure………. in what presentation……. for every other fish on the Croix!
Just kiddin’ buddy! I just wanted to see if I could get your dander up if I kinda threatened to take your spoon away.
February 1, 2005 at 4:38 am #339950Actually, I’ve been looking for a bigger spoon!
Bushman, where have you been fishing lately?
February 2, 2005 at 6:49 pm #340316Hey Brian,
Still fishing the Croix. Not much more luck than anyone else. Been fishing up in cheeseland a bit also around minong and rice lake and its been good out that way.Next week we head up to Red and LOW from thurs-sunday CANT WAIT these trips never come quick enough and never last long enough but thats how it goes.Whats your take on a little sheepie battle this summer?
I think it would be a good way to meet a few people and knock down a couple beersFebruary 3, 2005 at 1:31 pm #340572Sounds good to me. Better to do it in the warmer months…
I think SteveO & Stillakid should have a handicap though.
With this warmer weather…a guy is getting the false sense that winter is starting to go away…but the snowiest months are yet to come.
February 5, 2005 at 7:04 am #341064What kind of handicap would you like me to have? I’ll agree to a sprained ankle……….. if it helps.
What’s snow got to do with having a lot of winter left………. on a fishing website? Dude, snow weighs down ice and water gets on top. The thermal quality of running water will melt the ice even faster! The lakes can hold ice for a while……. I don’t mind. But get that river OPEN!!!
