Good bite

Just a quick note to say there’s a good bite out there on the St. Croix (as is on all the rivers from what I know)and the best presentation has been jigging.

Plastics and minnows are doing the trick by far as the best presentation (21 to 25 FOW), but I must give the nod to minnows as they far outfished the plastics today. Each day is different as they say. We did get some to hammer the plastics as they seem to always do!

    Anyway just a quick note.

Thanks for the note Turk. Unfortunatly it looks like my Croix fishing is done for the season. Going for one last muskie on Saturday (I’ve retired from deer hunting). It’s been a very good season – I think I won the Big Louie Sauger division – I haven’t heard from Beanies yet, but I have heard that no one topped my fish. It’s an honor to have my name along side all the legends that have won that contest over the years.

    That was you Earl?!

    Nice fish!

I was working on the Flathead’s….but my tail went between my legs when I heard about the 59 pounder…

    Next year…look out!

    Earl of Eye,

Your earned every bit of it. Your probably one of the best riggers on the croix. You have proven more than once you can “hurt somebody” on any given day. Does anyone know who “Big Louie” is anyway?

    Earl aka Mr. Klund,

Both you and Scott Hale did well with the River Rat win and Big Louie wins….hmmmm its time to start following different boats!! AND who says live bait doesn’t catch big fish on the Croix?! I must say good work. Dude – I got the Big Louie winner after the contest was over! ha, What a Sumo!! As they say NEXT YEAR!

    Turk,

Thanks for the kind words. I figured either you or Philpot would steal the Big Louie from me with a pig the last week of October. Same with Earl’s sauger. How big was the sumo?

Like you say – next year we start all over.
