Thinking of taking Wed afternoon off for the Croix. How’s it going? The last few times I was out a week or so ago the saugers were pretty eager trolling and jigging. I just have to decide which section I want to fish. May even try some wing dams on pool 3 if the water is down enough. Thanks.

Let us know how whats going on. Haven’t been out for a week and plan on hitting it Thursday after work. Just unsure where to try. I haven’t had much luck on the Croix the last couple of outings, but I got some new fin tech jigs in the mail, and I want to give them a whirl…

It’s pretty hard not to connect with saugers trolling around Hudson this time of year but I just don’t want to hit that section very bad. I have season passes on two Croix ramps and the Hudson scam ramp isn’t one of them.
I launched there a week ago and of course payed the extortion fee only to find the dock unusable. It was about 4 feet out of the water. Nice. Don’t get me wrong. I love the town but the ramp cost tweaks me. I think I’m heading downstream.

I’ll be between Prescott and Kinni tomorrow and friday. Red Lund rebel, 40 merc, big white lab, swing on in or give a wave as you wing by.

I was in Prescott for several hours until about 6:00. I didn’t see any IDA hats.(forgot mine) Bite was slow during the afternoon and seemed to taper off to nothing by later afternoon. I left about 1/2 hour before dark so maybe there was a flury.

Got about 6 saugers, 1 eye and a few sheep. One of the saugers was an 18″ linebacker. A real brut looking sauger. All fish were keeper size except 1 sauger. Tried cranking wing dams for 2 hours. I hit about 7 and nothing at all. Baitfish presence has dwindled on pool 3 below Prescott where they were present recently. The wings have really been handing it to me this year but I am not giving up.

Yeah I ended not making it out, minutes (literally) before I hooked up the boat, I had a unforseen family problem to attend to, otherwise I’d have been out there.

I shouldn’t have went to Mille Lacs this weekend. Those tiny Croix fish just don’t seem to be as appealing. Hopefully that will wear off in 5..4..3..2..1 Ok I’m ready.
